The correlation between frequency & community can help or hinder Christian community. Frequent community gatherings can help grow Christian community whereas infrequent community gatherings can hinder Christian community. The more a community gathers the more opportunity they have to do life together. Christian communities that only meet occasionally or sporadically will be greatly hindered when it comes to life together. Note also that geographical proximity and spontaneity (see previous posts) work in favor of increasing the number or frequency of community gatherings. Being in close geographical proximity and being open to spontaneous interactions will naturally increase the frequency of life together. When these three variables work together (geographical proximity, spontaneity, & frequency), there is great opportunity for people to life together in the Way of Jesus.
I have experienced both the positive and the negative correlation between frequency and community in my life. I have been involved in life together with people that were unable to meet on any kind of a regular basis. It hindered our life together greatly. I have also been involved in life together with people who were committed to meeting multiple times a week--both spontaneously, but also deliberately. It positively enhanced the depth and rhythm of our life together in ways we couldn't have imagined.
