So my wife Josie is 25 weeks pregnant today! It will be our first and we are super excited!
The developing baby is now able to sense touch and is capable of hearing. Both of these capabilities have been confirmed. We have noticed that the baby is quite responsive to either of our voices and or our touch. When I speak it is not uncommon for the baby to start moving. When I put my hand on Josie's stomach the baby starts to kick. It goes nuts when I do both at the same time! We have discovered that ice cream also gets the baby really excited!
The other day I was thinking about this general pattern and it got me thinking about my relationship with God. I was reflecting on how fun it is to feel the baby move. The baby consistently moves when I speak. The baby consistently moves to my touch. And then it was like God used this observation to ask me a question: "Do I make you move? When you hear my voice, do you move? When you sense my touch, do you move?"
I have heard that children teach you a lot about God. I didn't realize that lessons would begin while the baby was still in utero!
I desperately want to be someone that moves when I hear God speak. I want to be someone that immediately moves when I sense his touch. I want to live in the rhythm of hearing from God and responding to God. I want him to be my primary mover! How has God been making you move lately?
